Nourishing Meals for
Postpartum and More
It takes a lot of energy to make and birth a baby, and after that, it takes a village to raise them. Stocking up on, or gifting, these healing foods can help make postpartum life a little easier. All of the meals below are warming to the body, easy on digestion, nourishing, and nutrient-dense. They're also based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, organic, plant-based, gluten-free, made with filtered water and sprouted grains, and never prepped with a plastic cutting board. And the best part? You don’t have to be a new parent to enjoy these meals! Everything is also a nutritious option for pregnancy, someone going through infertility treatments, post-op, or for those just wanting high-quality, healthful food.
How It Works
Unlike most meal delivery services, each dish below can be tailored to fit your preferences. Everything is intentionally sourced, packaged in glass or biodegradable sugarcane fiber paper, and delivered in a cooler bag, all of which is included in the price. There is a $200 minimum per order, plus a delivery fee based on where you live. We service most of Southern California and will coordinate delivery dates based on your needs. If you want to gift meals to someone, you can purchase a gift card here and we will coordinate with them after it's gifted. Want to receive these meals as a gift? Add this page to your registry! Each order comes with a detailed ingredients and instructions sheet. Scroll below to contact us, or email melissa@forkinplants.com to place an order or ask any questions you may have. We look forward to supporting you on this journey!

My
Why
They say you create the product you need, and I couldn’t agree more. These are the foods I wish I had after my fibroid removal surgery and my IVF egg retrievals. The longer I’ve been navigating my infertility journey, the more I’ve learned about the importance of nourishing, anti-inflammatory foods as they relate to all things pregnancy. On this journey, I’ve read numerous books about fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum. These are all things I’ve become passionate about and I’m so excited to combine this newfound passion with my knowledge of cooking healthy, plant-based foods in a non-toxic and sustainable way. Finding the time and energy to make these foods among doctor's appointments, mental health lows, work, a new baby, and other daily responsibilities and expectations can be difficult. By offering these meals, I hope to take away some of that burden. Read more here.

I'm not postpartum, can I still eat these meals?YES! Anyone can eat these nutritious meals. These meals include foods that benefit postpartum healing, but they're beneficial for others too. For example, brewer's yeast is used to help support lactation, but it's also a source of minerals that can help maintain normal blood sugar levels and has shown other health benefits as well.

How can I add these meals to my gift registry? Most online registries allow you to link to a product. Just copy this URL https://www.forkinplants.com/meal-delivery and add it to yours! If you're still looking for a registry, I love Babylist. They make it easy to create categories and add products, services, gift cards, and more. During my infertility journey, I've learned a lot about the best pregnancy/baby/postpartum items and have used Babylist as a way to keep them all organized for when that time hopefully comes!

Are all the meals vegan?Yes, all of the meals are vegan/plant-based. Some items use honey, which can be swapped for maple syrup, just let us know. While we don't prepare meat, if you choose to eat it, you can easily add it to any dish!

What's included in the price?Price is always the number one question, and I get it! I strive to provide a high-end service at the lowest cost I can. When you order from me you're supporting a woman-owned small business, and I can promise you're getting organic, high-quality foods packed in glass or biodegradable sugarcane fiber paper - no plastic! I compost all of my food scraps and try to keep all of my work as low waste as possible, which means by letting me cook for you, you’re helping the planet too! All of the cookware I use is non-toxic and everything is always mindfully and carefully prepared. The price also includes my investment in my skill and non-toxic supplies, all correspondence with you, the time and cost of grocery shopping (all intentionally sourced groceries included), preparation, packaging, and labeling of meals, tax, and so much more.

What type of salt do you use?I do all of my cooking with Redmond Real Salt which is unrefined sea salt mined from an ancient seabed in Utah where it’s safe from modern pollutants. It’s pure, unprocessed, and full of trace minerals that give it one-of-a-kind nutritional benefits and a subtly sweet flavor that brings out the best in each bite

What type of chocolate do you use? After trying many chocolates, I chose to use Villakuyaya because they undergo rigorous testing and analysis, particularly in terms of heavy-metal content and overall quality. From the initial grain input at their plant to the final creation, every step is carefully monitored to ensure the highest standards of purity and excellence. They only use natural ingredients sourced from certified organic suppliers. Their chocolates are crafted with premium organic cocoa, organic cocoa butter, and organic cane sugar, resulting in delightful flavors characterized by fruity and floral notes. They're vegan, gluten-free, kosher, and fair-trade.
-
What type of oil do you use?I only use organic extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil. The fried rice does use organic sesame oil, which can be omitted if you prefer. Vegetable/seed oils have no place in my cooking!

Where can I see the ingredients?Email melissa@forkinplants.com and I'd be happy to share the full ingredients list!
-
Why aren't my soups filled to the top?We purposely leave space in the glass jars for freezing purposes. If you decide to freeze a jar, having this air space will allow for expansion of the food while preventing overflow and breakage.
